THE CLAP LAMP

The "Clap" Lamp was made as an alternative to a normal manually switched light. People, like my client, found it a hassle getting up every time to switch the light on/off. The purpose of this lamp was made to counter that inconvenience - thus, creating a beacon, that can brighten your day, even when you are having a bad one.

My client was Poasa, in his mid-twenties, and a full-time Stores Person at Mainfreight. Like many other days, he often comes home exhausted from work, and finds himself relaxing on his bed. His problem, which I managed to focus on, was the hassle to having to get up every time to turn his light on/off.

The light consist of three major parts; the glass dome, the LED light bulb, and the Walnut dark semi-glossed wood base.

These all create the ideal lamp light, made to satisfaction, and approval from my client.

Things I can work on to improve this design, would have to be the aesthetics of my lamp design. Although, having witness my client's idealistic views of simplicity, I should try explore more ways to design a lamp that is simple, yet "dashing" in appearances.

Overall, my client loved the aesthetics, simple yet effective. The function of this lamp was what counted the most.
