THE FLARE IN THE SUNSET

Poster 3.2 (Colour).jpg

"From across the lake,
Past the black winter trees,
Faint sounds of a flute" (571)

Using Photoshop, I used free-hand drawing to sketch out my storyboard. Adjusting my pencil tool to 1px allowed me to roughly sketch out my draft for each slot. By doing this, I was able to see what angle shot was in each slot, which character was involved, what was the mood, et cetera (Duddumpudi, 2020).

I then moved onto applying color, I tried to utilize space in my art to somewhat provide a sense of being out in the wilderness. Utilizing the white in this storyboard, helped me sort everything out, being less crammed and easier to apply focus on elements in each slot (Bhuller, 2014).

The idea of "Direction" was heavily implied in the flare gun being lit up in the sky by the rescuers. This action was shown to help guide the lost friends into the direction of where they could be saved.

I have applied the Flare Gun shot in the 'Twist' stage of the storyboard to provide a turn of event, this being, the lost friend's "hope". (University of Auckland, 2020)

The 3.5 shows the friends back in civilization, enjoying life. Ironically, circling a dining table, in contrast to the first slot, of them circling a camp fire, in the wilderness.
