Growing up in an environment where showing emotion was considered 'weak' for men. The idea of being independent and never needing help from others, struck me at a very young age.
Polynesians are placed into a stereotypical statistic; that we have no 'weaknesses' nor 'limits' to our productivity in life, but in fact -- we do.
Mental Health Awareness for men is a huge problem in today's society. Often at times, men drown in the toxic idea of showing no emotions means no weakness.
Speak up.
Go on.
You are not 'weak' for expressing how you feel!
You are not 'weak' for seeking guidance!
You are not 'weak' for showing incompetence in certain activities!
You are not 'weak', but 'capable'.
We as 'Men' need to speak out more, and communicate more. After all, communication is a major drive in what helps our society move forward. Without communication, nothing can be achieved.
